Admissions Information

Admission is conditional upon evaluation and recommendation by the Directress and the Administrator. Admission to the Cedar Valley Montessori School begins with re-enrollment of those students currently attending the school, their siblings, followed by those in a waiting list. Re-enrollment takes place in March after the "Directress/Parent Conferences." Parents of currently enrolled children are given a new fee schedule and a re-application form for their child(ren). Most forms along with a registration fee are to be returned with a two-week period to confirm enrollment. Formal contracts are issued after enrollment is confirmed. Wait lists will begin after the re-enrollment period in the spring.

Parents inquiring for the first time are placed on a waiting list and are mailed a school brochure with a fee schedule. All parents on the waiting list will be contacted about openings in March after the re-enrollment process is completed. When an opening becomes available, parents are encouraged to come and observe a classroom and are given an application form. The application form, along with a registration fee, is to be returned within two weeks to confirm enrollment. Formal contracts are issued after enrollment is confirmed.

During the summer ALL parents will receive a packet of information and forms. Included in this packet are: the school calendar, a general intake sheet, a physical form and immunization card, a travel and photo authorization, a medical and dental emergency care form, and a pick-up authorization form. Parents are also given information about the dates and times of parent orientations. It is during this orientation that parent handbooks are distributed and reviewed. Parents are shown the classroom.

All forms and student contracts must be returned before the first day of school so that all student files are complete. NO student may begin class if these forms are not complete and on file.
Scholarships

CVMS has a scholarship program to provide assistance for participants with limited financial resources. All rewards are based on a financial need, determined by a CVMS financial form. Inquiries should be directed to the Administrator and are kept confidential.
Orientation

In Montessori schools all over the country is has been found that a careful orientation period produces effective and long lasting adjustment for the Montessori children. Returning students will attend class prior to new students in order to facilitate their re-adjustment to the Montessori environment. This will refresh their memories and restart routines. The new students will then begin their Montessori experience with several role models.

A parent orientation program is held in August. The program includes introduction of staff, review of policies and procedures, and discussion of rights and responsibilities of parents and staff. One or both parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
